The typical age range of Teen and Young Adult Kehillah class participants is ages 14-26, however, we will work with you to choose the appropriate classes based on developmental level to ensure a good experience for all participants. Many of the social and community events appeal to young adult participants of a wider age range.

Class Descriptions & Fees
Adaptive Aquatics
You will receive 1:1 instruction in acquiring the next step in your swimming skills. This can range from a beginner swimmer working on water safety skills to an experienced swimmer who wants to get improve their skills. Instruction is customized to fit your physical and developmental abilities. This is an 8 week lesson block offered on Friday and Saturday afternoons, additional afternoons might be available. Contact Kim Levy for open lesson times and instructors. Any missed lessons cannot be made up.

The Karate I class focuses on skills mixed with games to help kids learn how to take turns, do controlled karate kicks and blocks and relax through meditation. This class focuses on karate as a means to self-control. Classes are held downstairs in JCC’s Dance Studio. Attire: Socks, Sweatpants and T-Shirt.

Teen Basketball
This class works on the skills needed to participate in community basketball programs. Participants learn dribbling, passing, shooting the rules of play and overall sportsmanship. Come join Coach Joe Phillips in this fun class.

Everyone Can Draw and Paint Class
Participants will have access to to quality art materials and a professional instruction from experienced staff from 1000 Crane art studio to help you reach your artistic goals. Drum Lessons
One-to-one thirty minute drum lessons from a world traveled percussionist who is patient and understanding of different learning styles. Instructor: Demse Zullo

Gal’s Group Exercise
This class gives teens and young adults a 45 minute workout of stretching and strength building, utilizing steps, weights and floor exercises to music. A quiet cool down ends the class.

Guitar Lessons
One to one guitar lessons given by Dirk Litzner. Lessons are weekly for a half hour and start at the individuals level.

We Can Sing Chorus
Learn the techniques to sing including breath control, the difference between your head and chest voice and how to warm up your voice before you sing. This class is open to singers of all levels and will include individual and group work. All Ages

Teen Community Social Group
Social pragmatics and friendship skills while participating in community outings. The ability to follow instructions and to be safe in the community with staff support required. Learn independence and self advocacy while having fun doing teen activities, such as Bowling, Dinner Out, Art and Cooking Community Classes and more!

Music with Rusty
This fun class is back by popular demand. The class begins with a social skills welcoming activity; followed by two instrumental activities, designed to get participants to play as a group and listen to each other. Each week ends with a group discussion on plans for the next week’s musical repertoire so that everyone’s favorites are featured. Instructor: Michael “Rusty” Williams-Russell

Indivdual Voice Lessons
Learn how to use breath control, pitch and rhythm to sing along with your favorite songs. Voice lessons can be used to support speech therapy by working with the motivation of music and lyrics to improve articulation and fluency. Instructor: Michelle Kostek

Water Aerobics

Zumba for Teens
Zumba classes are high energy fitness paries packed with specially choreographed routines and the latest music. Zumba classes increase focus, self-confidence, and social skills, boost metabolism and improve coordination. Mixed ages have one big party every week. Cooking for Myself
This class will teach participants how to make their own meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner utilizing fresh ingredients. The focus will be on fresh, healthy and independent meal preparation using a microwave, toaster and a grill press. Participants will enjoy the meals they have prepared and get a recipe book of all the meals.
